Amy Misko founded The Mississippi Microschool Freedom Movement, a nonprofit dedicated to expanding educational options for Mississippi families. The organization raises funds to provide startup grants for new microschools, small, local schools serving K–12 learners throughout the state.
Her work reflects a lifelong passion for educational freedom and choice. After retiring in 2021 from a career spanning more than 40 years as a real estate professional, broker, and business owner, Amy turned her focus to philanthropy. Her real estate experience included commercial and residential sales, leasing, property management, and development across the United States.
Her advocacy comes as Mississippi prepares to participate in the federal scholarship tax credit program beginning in 2027. The program offers eligible taxpayers a nonrefundable federal income tax credit for qualifying cash contributions to approved scholarship-granting organizations, helping fund educational opportunities for eligible K–12 students.
Fun fact: Amy served as president of the Southern California Art Glass Association in the early 2000s and is preparing to build her own “She Shed” glass studio in Mississippi.
